Our last day at Intertraffic in Amsterdam. This year Intertraff showcased its advanced traffic portfolio and launched the latest version of its Noxis distracted-driving detection system.
The enhanced Noxis solution now integrates with a full-colour variable message sign (VMS) to communicate with drivers in real time. When the system detects a violation, such as handheld mobile-phone use or an unfastened seat belt for the driver or front passenger, the VMS can display an immediate, specific warning.
This capability marks a strategic evolution from purely punitive enforcement towards proactive road safety. The aim is to help road users correct risky behaviour on the spot, fostering immediate compliance. Where legislation permits, the same robust platform can also generate enforceable digital evidence packages and back-office exports for streamlined processing.
Intertraff is also introducing a new, fully portable traffic-light enforcement system. Designed for rapid deployment, it operates on integrated batteries or optional solar panels, requiring no fixed power connection.
The system detects traffic-light states via a dedicated video camera, eliminating the need for trenching or intrusive electrical work. This design minimises impact on existing infrastructure and allows for remarkably quick installation. The D-Cop traffic-light enforcement camera can typically be installed, configured, and commissioned in around 30 minutes, making it an ideal solution for temporary traffic hotspots, long-term roadworks, and pilot enforcement projects.
Through these innovations, Intertraff is demonstrating its commitment to transforming traffic monitoring into an active, intelligent, and real-time safety tool. We have been showing how technology can move beyond simple violation recording to actively protect all road users.
